Medtronic puts patient safety first, deploying rigorous quality controls throughout the manufacturing process. In support of its focus on quality, Medtronic puts every device through multiple test procedures. The burn-in test is one step in the quality process used to ensure no unreliable products leave the factory floor.
During the burn-in manufacturing process, factory specialists were manually taking down data and events happening with various devices. This led to inaccuracies and created a ‘hidden factory.’ Medtronic wanted to eliminate the manual entry of data during this process to make it efficient and accurate.
Valore Partners determined that the solution must include:
- Custom emulators for oven firmware
- A custom API to read data from the oven
- Integration with the oven’s camera system to identify devices and transmit data to the stress test
- A custom dashboard to organize, catalog and display these data
Valore Partners designed a desktop application with a state machine workflow engine using C# and WCF that kept track of the devices during the manufacturing process in real time.
This application had advanced error handling and notification mechanisms built-in to support a 24/7 schedule.
We conducted multiple tests and analysis using ReSharper dotMemory to eliminate any memory and performance issues.
